Team Delta Crowned Champions Of 22nd National Sports Festival In Ogun.
Team Delta has emerged victorious at the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF), dubbed the “Gateway Games 2024,” hosted by Ogun State. The announcement was made yesterday as the festival drew to a triumphant close, solidifying Delta’s dominance in Nigerian sports.
The event, officially opened by President Bola Tinubu on 18 May, showcased the nation’s finest athletes competing across various disciplines. The closing ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko. Adding flair to the occasion were performances by music stars K1 De Ultimate and Wande Coal, alongside the presence of Super Eagles legend Segun Odegbami and NSC Director-General Bukola Olapade.
Team Delta’s stellar performance secured them the top spot, continuing their legacy of excellence at the NSF. Their victory was celebrated with enthusiastic applause, reflecting their hard-earned triumph. Meanwhile, Enugu, known as The Coal City, was announced as the host of the 23rd NSF in 2026, promising another exciting chapter for the biennial event.
The Gateway Games 2024 not only highlighted athletic prowess but also fostered national unity, with Ogun State earning praise for its successful hosting. As the curtains fell, anticipation began building for Enugu’s turn to carry the NSF torch forward.
