Tiwa Savage Opens Up On Never Experiencing True Love Except With Her Son.

Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage has shared a heartfelt revelation about her personal life, admitting that she has never truly experienced romantic love, except for the profound bond she shares with her son, Jamil. The 45-year-old Afrobeats star made the emotional disclosure during an interview with UK media personality Zeze Millz, reflecting candidly on her past relationships and her journey through love.

Speaking with a mix of vulnerability and introspection, Savage explained that what she once believed to be love in her romantic relationships—including her marriage to music executive Tunji ‘Teebillz’ Balogun from 2013 to 2018—was, in hindsight, mere infatuation. “I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Every time I look back at all my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love,” she said. “I was just infatuated. At that time, I thought I was in love.” The singer, known for hits like *Somebody’s Son*, expressed that even her marriage did not bring the depth of emotional connection she associates with true love.

Savage, who shares her son Jamil with her ex-husband, went on to confess that she has never had a “soulmate experience” despite repeated attempts to find lasting love. “I’ve tried over and over again, but maybe love isn’t for me in this lifetime,” she remarked, hinting at a sense of resignation after years of heartbreak. Her openness struck a chord with fans, many of whom took to social media to express empathy and admiration for her honesty. Posts on X reflected a wave of support, with users describing her words as “relatable” and praising her for speaking openly about such a personal struggle.

The singer’s reflections extended beyond her romantic life. In a separate interview with Nigeria’s Beat FM, Savage shared insights into her boldest act for love, revealing she once showed up unannounced at a partner’s home. “If I’m into someone, I’m really into that person,” she admitted, showcasing her passionate side. She also described her current phase as a “phoenix era,” symbolising a period of reinvention and resilience after enduring personal and professional challenges.

Savage’s candid revelations have sparked widespread conversation, with fans and commentators alike reflecting on the universal search for genuine love. Social media reactions compiled by news outlets highlighted the emotional impact of her words, with one user noting, “Tiwa’s honesty about her struggles just makes her more relatable. We see you, sis.” Others expressed hope that the singer would find the love she seeks, while acknowledging the unconditional love she shares with her son as a powerful anchor in her life.

As one of Nigeria’s most celebrated artists, Tiwa Savage continues to inspire through her music and her willingness to share her vulnerabilities. Her latest single, *Forgiveness*, is seen by many as a reflection of her ongoing journey of self-discovery and healing, further cementing her status as a relatable and resilient figure in the global music scene.
