Novak Djokovic to Compete at Paris 2024 Olympics.
Novak Djokovic is set to return to the court where he has triumphed three times at the French Open, as he competes in the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Olympic Committee of Serbia has announced.
This summer will mark Djokovic’s fifth Olympic appearance, having competed in every Games since 2008. The 37-year-old won bronze in his first Olympics but has fallen short in the third-place match on two subsequent occasions.
In April, Djokovic stated that Paris 2024 is a “priority” for him this year as he aims to secure the elusive gold medal. The Games will see his return to Paris after he withdrew from the French Open last month due to a knee injury before his quarter-final match.
The tennis events in Paris will be held at Roland Garros, the venue for the French Open, from 27 July to 4 August. Several countries have already confirmed their line-ups for the tennis events.
Among Djokovic’s notable competitors will be Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal. The Briton, Murray, mentioned that it would be “fitting” to retire at the Games.
In the women’s tournament, world number three Aryna Sabalenka and world number ten Ons Jabeur have opted out to prioritise their health.
Additionally, Serbia will be represented by world number 56 Dusan Lajovic in the tennis events.
