Tanzania and South Africa Triumph in CAF African Schools Football Championship Finals

The CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals concluded with a spectacular celebration of African youth football on Friday, 24 May, in Zanzibar. The four-day competition ended on a high note as Tanzania and South Africa emerged as champions in their respective divisions.

 

In a thrilling final at Amaan Stadium, the Tanzanian boys’ team clinched the title with a victory over Guinea, much to the delight of the home supporters. The girls’ final saw South Africa ascend to the summit of African youth football, securing a dramatic 1-1 (5-4) penalty shootout win against Morocco.





 

The tournament, held from 21 to 24 May, witnessed high-profile attendance, including CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, who visited the Zanzibar State House earlier in the day to meet with H.E. Dr. Hussein Mwinyi.

 

Before the finals, the afternoon featured a fiercely contested bronze medal match. Uganda showcased their resilience by defeating the hosts, Tanzania, in the girls’ third-place play-off. In the boys’ division, Senegal triumphed over Benin in a penalty shootout after a balanced draw.

 

The CAF African Schools Football Championship once again underscored its commitment to celebrating and developing African youth football, providing a platform for young talents to shine.

– *Boys: Mujahid Juma (Tanzania)

– *Girls: Shadia Nabrye (Uganda) – 3 Goals

– *Boys: Asmara Keita (Guinea) – 3 Goals

 

*Best Player:

– *Girls: Meryem Oubella (Morocco)

– *Boys: Abel Samson (Tanzania)

 

The championship concluded another impactful season of fostering young talent and uniting the continent through the beautiful game.
