The Supreme Court has scheduled Thursday as the day for delivering judgment in the appeals brought by the presidential candidates of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
These appeals challenge the outcome of the February 25 election, which saw President Bola Tinubu emerge as the winner.
Dr. Festus Akande, the Director of Information at the Supreme Court, officially confirmed the judgment date on Wednesday.
Recall that On Monday, both the PDP and LP presented their cases before the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the appeal by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and its presidential candidate, Chichi Ojei, was dismissed after they withdrew it.
Earlier, the Presidential Election Petitions Court had, on September 6, rejected the petitions filed by both the PDP and LP, citing a lack of evidence to support their claims.
In response, Atiku and Peter Obi filed appeals to challenge this decision. The Supreme Court’s upcoming judgment will play a crucial role in the ongoing legal battle surrounding the election results.
