The cracker of Group A to secure a place at the AFCON 2023 ended in favour of the Super Eagles of Nigeria against Sierra Leone (3-2), the result has now qualified the Eagles a place in Côte d’Ivoire showdown.
Victor Osimhen broke AFCON records with is goal scoring skills and a late strike by substitute Kelechi Iheanacho secured the hard fought win in the match day five Group A tie in Monrovia, Liberia on Sunday.
The Eagles now sit on top in Group A on 12 points while Guinea-Bissau in second place have also qualified.
Their final game in the qualifiers is against São Tomé and Principe in September, 2023.
Osimhen opened scoring on 19 minutes before doubling the Eagles’ lead on 32 minutes.
Mustapha Bundu made it 2-1 in the 41st minute while Augustus Kargbo drew the Leone Stars level on 84 minutes.
But in the 95th minute, Iheanacho secured a sure win as he got the Eagles’ a third goal to end the game in celebration.
