Real Estate Developers Association Chairman Prince Akintoye Adeoye Named New Oluoke Of Okeigbo

Real Estate Developers Association Chairman Prince Akintoye Adeoye Named New Oluoke Of Okeigbo.

The President of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Prince Akintoye Adeoye, has been selected as the new Oluoke of Okeigbo in the Ile Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. The announcement, made by the Aare Kugbaigbe Ruling House, marks a significant moment for the community as it welcomes a new traditional ruler following the passing of the previous monarch, Oba Lawrence Babajide, in 2023.

Elder Ayodele Olopade, Media Director of the Aare Kugbaigbe Ruling House, confirmed the selection, highlighting the transparent and peaceful process led by Hon. Adebare Adeboye, Chairman of the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area. The chiefs responsible for the selection were commended for their integrity and commitment to upholding the traditions of Okeigbo, ensuring a smooth transition in leadership.

Prince Adeoye, a distinguished property developer and legal expert, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With a career spanning over three decades, he holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB) and a Master of Law (LLM) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and was called to the Bar in 1993 as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. His expertise in law and real estate has earned him a stellar reputation, positioning him as a capable leader for the Okeigbo Kingdom.

The Oba-elect expressed gratitude to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for maintaining neutrality and ensuring decorum throughout the selection process. Prince Adeoye’s emergence is seen as a continuation of the Aare Kugbaigbe Ruling House’s legacy, which has played a pivotal role in the governance of Okeigbo.

However, the announcement has not been without controversy. Some community members, including kingmakers and youths, have raised concerns, alleging that the selection violates the rotational succession principle outlined in Ondo State’s chieftaincy law. Chief Dele Oduwale, speaking on behalf of the kingmakers, argued that the Kuole Oloje Ruling House should produce the next monarch, as the Aare Kugbaigbe Ruling House had previously produced Oba Babajide. The Oruntan of Okeigbo, Deji Akintokun, described the selection as contrary to custom, urging calm while calling for adherence to tradition.

Despite these objections, supporters of Prince Adeoye’s appointment remain optimistic about his leadership. His extensive professional background and commitment to community development are expected to drive progress in Okeigbo. The community now looks to the state government for guidance in resolving any disputes to ensure unity and stability.

As Okeigbo prepares to embrace its new monarch, Prince Adeoye’s appointment signals a new chapter for the kingdom, rooted in its rich cultural heritage and poised for future growth under his stewardship.
