The Diaspora Centre of Excellence, a groundbreaking initiative funded by TETFUND and spearheaded by NIDCOM in partnership with the University of Ibadan, heralds a new era of collaboration and innovation in diaspora studies and engagement.
In her personally penned congratulatory message, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa lauds Prof. Senayon Olaoluwa’s renowned expertise in diaspora affairs, expressing full confidence in his ability to steer the Centre towards achieving its lofty objectives for the betterment of humanity.
Prof. Olaoluwa, whose tenure commenced on March 1, 2024, brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the founding Coordinator of the Diaspora and Trans-national Studies program at the esteemed Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, where he also held the position of Director.
Under his leadership, the Diaspora and Trans-national Studies program flourished, nurturing cutting-edge research initiatives and fostering academic excellence among faculty and students alike.
With the allocation of One billion naira by TETFUND, the construction of the Centre is poised to commence imminently, marking a pivotal milestone in the advancement of diaspora studies and engagement in Nigeria and beyond.
