The Niger State Government has issued an executive order to guide the establishment of private basic and secondary schools as part of efforts to ensure proprietors operate within the coffers of the law.
The state Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Hannatu Salihu, made this known at the public presentation of the regulation for the establishment and operations of private basic and secondary schools (Executive Order No. 15 of 2023), and launching of re-validation of private schools registration exercise in Minna.
She said the ministry had set up an implementation committee to be headed by Hajiya Dije Bala, with members drawn from both the ministry and the private sector in the state.
She revealed that the regulations for the establishment and operations of private basic and secondary schools were assented to by Gov. Abubakar Sani-Bello as an executive order No. 15 of 2023.
The Executive Chairman of Niger State Private Schools Board, Yabagi Alkali said the executive order was part of the government’s efforts to ensure children have access to quality education for their overall development.
