Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, has sacked the Rivers State Commandant of the NSCDC, Michael Ogar.
Michael was also directed by the Commandant General to hand-over the affairs of the Command to his Deputy, pending the deployment of a substantive State Commandant.
This followed a constituted high-powered investigation panel led by, Olusola Odumosu, into the circumstances that led to the blockage of the entrance of the Rivers State Command of the agency, by members of Petroleum Tanker Drivers, under the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers on Wednesday.
He expressed confidence that the committee will carry out an unbiased investigation.
The Commandant General appealed to members of the public and all interested stakeholders to wait for the outcome of the investigation and proposed recommendations.
The removal of Michael was informed by the event of Wednesday, where members of PTD NUPENG had barricaded the Rivers State Command of the NSCDC with several tanker trucks, alleging that the agency had sold their petroleum product seized last year August and has also repainted their tanker trucks.
