Nigerian Air Force Commits To Enhanced Air Support In Kebbi To Tackle Terrorism.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has pledged robust air support to security agencies in Kebbi State to combat terrorism and ensure regional stability. During an operational visit to the state, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, particularly in the North-West region, which faces persistent security challenges.
Abubakar conducted inspections of military facilities and held strategic discussions with Kebbi State Governor, Mohammed Idris, and other security chiefs. He highlighted Kebbi’s critical role in Nigeria’s security framework due to its proximity to international borders with Benin and Niger, as well as its vast rural terrain, which poses unique challenges. The NAF plans to intensify intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations to locate and neutralise terrorist threats, ensuring swift and effective responses across the state.
The Air Chief praised the synergy among security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Police, Department of State Services, and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, noting their collective efforts have maintained relative peace in Kebbi despite emerging threats. He assured residents that NAF aircraft are well-positioned to provide rapid support, emphasising that a secure Nigeria is essential for national development.
Governor Idris commended the NAF’s dedication and urged the establishment of a permanent airbase in Kebbi to bolster security operations. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting security agencies, highlighting the importance of collaboration to maintain peace. The NAF’s intensified airstrike campaigns in Kebbi and neighbouring Zamfara have already delivered significant blows to terrorist strongholds, freeing hostages and disrupting criminal networks.
