Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has acknowledged the formidable task ahead for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in addressing the longstanding challenges of Nigeria’s power sector.
In an exclusive interview with Channels Television on Thursday, Adelabu emphasised that the deep-rooted issues plaguing the sector, spanning over five decades, cannot be rectified within a mere year.
Highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts, Adelabu reassured the public that progress, though gradual, is being made towards resolving these complex challenges.
He underscored the necessity of consistent efforts in tackle the accumulated issues hampering the efficiency and reliability of the nation’s power supply.
Adelabu’s remarks come in the wake of heightened tensions following the recent increase in electricity tariffs, particularly affecting customers categorised under Band A. The tariff adjustment has sparked widespread discontent and protest, notably from Organized Labour Unions, demanding a rollback of the tariff hike.
