Lagos State APC Declares Winners Of Chairmanship Primaries Across 57 Councils.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has announced the winners of its chairmanship primaries for the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), marking a significant step towards the upcoming local government elections. The primaries, held on 10 May 2025, were hailed as transparent and fair, with over 1,500 party delegates participating in a meticulously organised process.

Hon. James Faleke, who coordinated the primaries, had assured candidates of a level playing field, likening the standards to those of the party’s presidential primaries. “We are committed to ensuring a process that is credible and reflects the will of our members,” Faleke stated prior to the exercise. Babatunde Ogala, chairman of the electoral committee, echoed this sentiment, guaranteeing that the primaries were conducted with integrity and impartiality.

The voting process saw delegates from across Lagos State’s councils undergo rigorous screening for accreditation, ensuring only eligible members participated. The APC’s commitment to transparency was evident in the structured approach, which included verification protocols to prevent irregularities.

The announcement has been met with enthusiasm within the party, with APC leaders praising the smooth execution of the primaries. “This is a testament to our commitment to internal democracy,” said a party spokesperson. The selected candidates are now poised to represent the APC in the local government elections, expected to take place later in 2025, as the party seeks to consolidate its dominance in Lagos State.

As preparations for the elections intensify, the APC has urged its candidates to engage with communities and present robust plans to tackle pressing issues. With Lagos being Nigeria’s economic hub, the outcome of the local government elections will have significant implications for governance and development in the state.
