USM Algiers toying with more Sanctions following the cancellation of scheduled second leg encounter against RS Berkane
The return leg match of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final between RS Berkane of Morocco and USM Alger of Algeria has been called off, mirroring the cancellation of the first leg match.
USM Alger arrived in Morocco on Friday but has opted to withdraw from the scheduled match on Sunday at 8 pm. The decision comes as a result of a dispute over the jerseys, as the Moroccans intended to wear jerseys featuring the full map of their country.
As of now, FIFA has not issued a statement regarding the cancelled match, but it is expected that sanctions will be imposed on the Algerian Football Federation.
A CAF club commission has escalated the matter to the disciplinary committee for potential additional sanctions against the Algerian authorities involved.
