The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to Nigerians regarding the authenticity of UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) result slips currently circulating on social media platforms.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson for JAMB, emphasised in a statement released on Wednesday, the imperative need for vigilance as certain individuals have been disseminating printed result slips, that are not reflective of the official results.
Contrary to the previous year’s practice, the 2024 UTME results are not accessible in any paper format, nor are they available on the JAMB website. Benjamin reiterated that the sole legitimate method to access the results is by sending UTMERESULT to either 55019 or 66019 from the phone number used during registration for the examination. It is essential to ensure that the SIM card is not associated with any data bundle.
Candidates are strongly advised against visiting cybercafés or engaging third-party services to check their results. Instead, they are urged to adhere strictly to the prescribed method to obtain their scores. Furthermore, the public is cautioned against individuals presenting printed result slips, as they are not valid representations of the current UTME results.
Despite a considerable number of candidates successfully accessing their results through the designated channels, a fraction are encountering difficulties. JAMB encourages these individuals to persist and utilise the correct procedure.
Earlier this week, JAMB announced the release of the 2024 UTME results, disclosing that 64,624 out of the 1,904,189 candidates who sat for the examination have had their results withheld pending further investigation. Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, affirmed the board’s commitment to ensuring the integrity and credibility of the examination process.
