The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Muhammed Idris, has emphasised the essential connection between democracy and national development.

During a recent visit by the APC North-Central Zone, Minister Idris called for unity among the people to fully realise the benefits of democracy. He said  that democracy’s true value lies in driving progress, development, and fostering unity among the citizens.

“It was for this reason that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is constantly promoting the dual concepts of unity and economic prosperity to our people; as the chief image maker of Nigeria, that is the message I am also disseminating.” He said this, noting the need for Nigerians to conduct some soul-searching.

The Minister highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s consistent advocacy for unity and economic prosperity, emphasising that these principles should resonate with all Nigerians. In his role as the country’s chief image maker, he echoed these messages, urging Nigerians to engage in introspection and reorientation.

Idris believes  that a crucial aspect of change and hope for Nigeria hinges on national re-orientation. He emphasised that every citizen bears the responsibility of aligning with the right path. He called on members of the APC to unite and work collaboratively, recognising that their collective efforts can lead to significant achievements for the nation.

“National re-orientation is at the heart of the change and hope that we all desire for this country; each one of us has the responsibility to recover his steps and do the right thing,” he said, calling on the party members to unite and engage more so that they can achieve great things for the country.”

The Minister stressed the importance of the party’s role in galvanising citizens towards a shared vision for Nigeria’s future. He noted that this could be effectively accomplished through the party’s organisational machinery at all levels.

In response, Alh. Bawa Rijau, the National Vice Chairman of the APC North Central, extended congratulations to Minister Idris on his well-deserved appointment. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting one of their own for this significant position, considering the Minister’s vital role during the campaign.

Rijau assured the Minister of his unwavering support and encouraged him to collaborate with his cabinet colleagues to expedite development in the North Central Zone. He emphasised that the North Central region had made commendable strides in the last election and urged the Minister and his colleagues to work together to safeguard the interests of the North Central zone.

“The North Central zone did very well in the last election, and because of this, we expect you and your cabinet colleagues to work together to ensure that the interests of the North Central are protected,” he stated.
