In a bold declaration during the annual Lagos State Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu asserted his commitment to enforcing laws and regulations rigorously throughout 2024.

The governor emphasized that a society’s progress and prosperity are contingent on strict adherence to the rule of law.

According to a press statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu outlined the administration’s key focus areas for the year. Besides prioritizing the successful implementation of major projects aligning with the development agenda, he underscored the significance of law enforcement in safeguarding lives and property.

“This year will be crucial for us in terms of the enforcement of various meticulously crafted laws and regulations designed to protect our lives and property,” the governor stated.

He urged Lagosians to actively participate in upholding the rule of law, encompassing aspects such as tax payment, adherence to traffic rules, responsible waste disposal, and reporting lawbreakers.

“As a government, we are committed to facilitating a conducive environment for law-abiding citizens. Our ongoing transport reforms aim to enhance the commuting experience for all Lagosians, while our Emergency Hotlines are readily available for reporting any suspicious activities,” Governor Sanwo-Olu reassured.

Highlighting a significant upcoming event, the governor announced his intention to sign the 2024 Lagos State Appropriation Bill into law during the week. Describing it as an “important milestone,” he emphasized that this move would further underscore the commitment to delivering on promises made to the people of Lagos.

“This week, I will sign into law the 2024 Lagos State Appropriation Bill, passed by our hardworking Lagos House of Assembly. This marks an important milestone in delivering on our promises to the people of Lagos,” Governor Sanwo-Olu affirmed.

As the state anticipates a fruitful 2024, the governor reiterated the administration’s dedication to the T.H.E.M.E.S+ development agenda, aimed at guiding and propelling progress and development in Lagos State throughout his second and final term in office.
