While observing Ramadan, there are other things you need to observe to keep your health at optimal level function.
You may need to make a few changes.
Some things can make your fast worse or better depending on the changes you make to observe the holy month. Remember, you have to adjust to this new experience and your health is the most important thing to look out for.
Be your own champion by promoting supportive practices that make your fast easier. Here are four of them.
Avoid boredom with healthy activity
Make fasting easier by using healthy distractions. Eating can be tempting when you are bored and hungry. Keep yourself busy with walks, meditation, reading, listening to a podcast, and other simple activities which don’t use too much energy.
This is not about avoiding unintentionally eating, but rather keeping the hunger at bay.
Go for a health check-up
It is normal to feel tired, hungry, and irritable, but you should not feel sick or unwell. Any extreme feelings of unwellness should be subject to professional help. It is also a good time to get a medical check- up to make sure you are fit for fasting.
Reduce gym and workout time
Reduce intensity and frequency when you’re fasting. Keep exercise to basic body stretching, walking, and housework among others.
Get much sleep
Cut out distractions and disturbances that may affect your sleep. Even when you’re not fasting your body cannot work at an optimal level with little level. Fasting can add extra pressure on the body which cannot be sustained with poor sleep habits.
