Bundesliga: Bayern Munich Held By Leverkusen As Harry Kane Went Off Injured

Vincent Kompany Hopes Harry Kane’s Injury Is Not Serious After Draw Against Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is optimistic that Harry Kane’s ankle injury is not severe after the England striker was forced to limp off during Bayern’s 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Kane, who captains the England national team, was substituted in the 86th minute after a challenge from Bayer Leverkusen’s Amine Adli, leaving him in visible discomfort. With Bayern set to face Aston Villa in the Champions League on Wednesday, Kompany expressed his hope that Kane would recover in time for the crucial fixture.

“I’m not a doctor, but I hope it’s nothing serious. It’s still early to say. Hopefully, he’ll be fit for Wednesday,” Kompany told Sky Sports.

Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, also shared his concern, stating: “If Harry goes off the pitch, then it’s something. Now I hope he’s made of sturdy English wood.”

England interim manager Lee Carsley will no doubt be monitoring Kane’s condition closely, as the Three Lions prepare for their upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and Finland in October.

The match itself saw Bayer Leverkusen take the lead at the Allianz Arena through Robert Andrich, whose well-placed strike found the bottom corner after a slick pass from Granit Xhaka in the 31st minute. However, Bayern Munich levelled the score just eight minutes later when Aleksandar Pavlovic unleashed a brilliant 25-yard effort into the top corner, with Bayer keeper Lukas Hradecky managing to get a hand on the ball but unable to keep it out.

Kane almost turned provider shortly after the break, floating a cross into Serge Gnabry, who came agonisingly close to putting Bayern ahead. However, Gnabry’s effort struck the post, and his follow-up attempt hit the crossbar. Bayern continued to press for a winner, with Alphonso Davies and Konrad Laimer both narrowly missing the target in the closing stages.

Despite their best efforts, neither side could find the winning goal, leaving the match at a stalemate. The result keeps Kompany’s Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga table with 13 points from five matches, while Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen sit in third place, just three points behind.

The focus now shifts to Harry Kane’s fitness, with Bayern Munich and England both hoping for positive news ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
