APC Accuses Governor Makinde Of Diverting Oyo State Resources For 2027 Ambition

APC Accuses Governor Makinde Of Diverting Oyo State Resources For 2027 Ambition.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, accusing him of using state resources to further his 2027 presidential ambition instead of focusing on his responsibilities. The APC claims that Makinde’s recent statements against the ruling party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are politically motivated and part of his campaign strategy.

During an event in Ibadan, Governor Makinde criticised the APC, attributing the disarray within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition factions to the ruling party. He suggested that the 2027 presidential election would be a choice between Nigerians and the APC-led government.

In response, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, condemned Makinde’s remarks, stating that the governor’s focus on his presidential ambitions is a disservice to the people of Oyo State. Morka argued that Makinde’s alleged neglect of his duties reflects poorly on his leadership and undermines his credibility.

Morka highlighted the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration, including an improved trade surplus, higher foreign reserves, and significant strides in non-oil export diversification. He praised the government’s efforts in social welfare and infrastructure development, noting initiatives such as the Nigerian Credit Corps, the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), and increased minimum wage.

The APC spokesperson urged Governor Makinde to prioritise the needs of Oyo residents rather than pursuing a personal political agenda. He claimed that Makinde’s ambition would ultimately be overshadowed by the successes of Tinubu’s reforms, which aim to boost prosperity and stability across Nigeria.

Morka concluded by calling on Nigerians to support President Tinubu as his policies continue to deliver positive results for the country.
