African Teams Face Thrilling Challenges At FIFA U-20 World Cup In Chile.

Africa’s four representatives at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025 learned their group-stage fates following the official draw in Santiago on Thursday night. South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, and Morocco are set to showcase the continent’s burgeoning talent in a fiercely competitive 24-team tournament, running from 27 September to 19 October across Santiago, Rancagua, Talca, and Valparaiso.

 

South Africa’s Amajita, fresh from clinching their maiden U-20 Africa Cup of Nations title earlier this month, face a stern test in Group E. Drawn against European heavyweights France, the USA, and New Caledonia, the young South Africans will need to summon all their resolve in what promises to be a captivating group.





 

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, the continent’s most seasoned side with 14 tournament appearances, landed in Group F alongside Colombia, Norway, and Saudi Arabia. With a proud history that includes two final appearances, Nigeria will be eager to rediscover their flair and push for a deep run in the competition.

 

Egypt’s Pharaohs, competing in Group A, will take on hosts Chile, Japan, and New Zealand. Facing a passionate home crowd, Egypt will aim to make an early impact and assert their credentials on the global stage. Meanwhile, Morocco, drawn in a daunting Group C, will battle three-time champions Brazil, Mexico, and Spain. The North Africans, who reached the U-20 AFCON final in Cairo, will rely on their defensive resilience and attacking spark to navigate this challenging section.

 

The tournament’s format sees the top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed sides, advance to the knockout stages. With preparations now in full swing, Africa’s young stars are poised to seize this opportunity to shine and make their mark on the world stage.

Group B: Korea Republic, Panama, Paraguay, Ukraine

Group C: Brazil, Mexico, Morocco, Spain

Group D: Argentina, Australia, Cuba, Italy

Group E: France, New Caledonia, South Africa, USA

Group F: Colombia, Nigeria, Norway, Saudi Arabia
