Just-In: First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Honoured With Prestigious Chieftaincy Title In Enugu.

In a vibrant and culturally rich ceremony held in Enugu on Tuesday, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was conferred with the esteemed chieftaincy title of Ugosimba 1 of Enugu, which translates to “Jewel of Women Empowerment.” The honour recognises her tireless efforts in championing women’s empowerment and social development across Nigeria.

The event, attended by prominent figures including Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and several traditional leaders, was a testament to Senator Tinubu’s impactful contributions through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), a cornerstone of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The initiative has been lauded for its focus on agricultural support, education, and economic empowerment, particularly for women and young people.

Governor Mbah praised the First Lady’s dedication, noting that her work aligns with the state’s goals for sustainable agricultural development and food security. “We are here because of Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s inspiring commitment,” he said, highlighting the partnership between the state government and RHI.

The conferment of the Ugosimba 1 of Enugu title comes barely a month after President Bola Tinubu was similarly honoured with the chieftaincy title of Dike Si N’mba 1 in Anambra State, underscoring the couple’s growing recognition for their leadership and service to the nation.

During her visit to Enugu, Senator Tinubu also empowered 400 women and young farmers across the state’s 17 local councils, distributing essential agricultural inputs such as wheelbarrows, seedlings, fertilisers, pesticides, livestock feed, piglets, chicks, and a cassava processor. This initiative, part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to bolster farming sustainability and economic self-reliance, with agriculture remaining a vital backbone of Nigeria’s economy.

Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, wife of the Enugu governor, represented the First Lady in distributing the items on Saturday, further cementing the collaborative spirit of the programme. One beneficiary expressed gratitude, stating, “This is wonderful. I’ll use this machine to support my family and help grow Enugu’s economy.”

The ceremony was marked by colourful displays of tradition and unity, with attendees celebrating Senator Tinubu’s contributions not only to Enugu but to Nigeria as a whole. Her recognition as the Ugosimba 1 of Enugu reflects her role as a beacon of hope and empowerment for women across the country.

This latest honour adds to Senator Tinubu’s legacy of service, as she continues to advocate for the underprivileged, particularly women and children, through her work in both public and private capacities.
