Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed unwavering confidence in the judgement of the Ogun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, believing it would affirm his victory in the March 18 governorship election.
The tribunal’s verdict, delivered on Saturday, indeed upheld Abiodun’s win and dismissed the petition filed by Ladi Adebutu, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Lekan Adeniran, Abiodun stated, “We were never in doubt that our hard-earned victory would be affirmed as we placed our trust in God, having worked the hardest campaigning in every nook and cranny of Ogun State. We won fair and square, we earned it and deserved it.”
Governor Abiodun also extended an olive branch to the opposition, urging them to put aside animosity and join hands in the collective task of developing Ogun State.
Furthermore, Chief Yemi Sanusi, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, lauded the tribunal’s decision, expressing confidence that it would propel Governor Abiodun to intensify efforts to deliver democracy dividends to the people of the state.
