Nigerian singer, Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has shared his experiences of taking on menial jobs to support himself and his family before making it big in the music industry.

In a recent post on X, Shallipopi revealed that he had been to all 36 states of Nigeria, touring various towns and taking on odd jobs to make ends meet. He shared that he had done bricklaying, painting, working in a workshop, and even ran a communal house at night.

Shallipopi also recalled performing at clubs in Benin for a modest fee of N5,000, which he would give to his mother to help pay bills.

Shallipopi’s post came after he was slammed for saying money is essential for manhood. He had suggested that having money is a key aspect of being considered a man, and those who don’t have it might be viewed differently.
