Residents of Sango, Ogun State, were left grappling with the aftermath of a fierce rainstorm that struck on Sunday, April 21.
The downpour, which commenced at approximately 1:00 pm, was accompanied by strong winds, resulting in significant damage to the electricity infrastructure in the area.
Numerous electricity poles, supporting vital cables connecting residences and business establishments, were uprooted by the forceful winds. These poles collapsed onto Sango road, causing obstruction and chaos as tangled cables littered the thoroughfare.
Among the casualties of the storm was a conspicuous yellow bus, reportedly used for transporting worshippers to religious centers. The vehicle was abandoned in the middle of the road, bearing the weight of three fallen poles.
Videos capturing the aftermath of the storm quickly circulated online, depicting residents surveying the widespread damage. Many expressed frustration, noting that the affected poles had been recently installed in the area.
Local authorities are assessing the extent of the destruction and coordinating efforts to restore electricity and clear the debris from the affected areas. Meanwhile, residents are urged to exercise caution and patience as recovery operations continue in Sango.
