Yahaya Bello Honours EFCC Invitation Amid Allegations.
Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has once again presented himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja to address allegations of financial mismanagement during his tenure.
Arriving at the EFCC headquarters on Tuesday in a black Hilux vehicle, the former governor was accompanied by his legal team. Notably, the current Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, was absent from the visit, contrary to earlier speculations.
This latest development comes in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling that upheld the EFCC’s authority to investigate state officials, reinforcing the agency’s constitutional mandate.
Last week, rumours circulated about Bello’s scheduled appearance at the EFCC, but his media team refrained from commenting on the matter. Tuesday’s visit confirmed his compliance with the summons issued earlier by the anti-graft agency.
The EFCC had previously sought an adjournment on November 14, requesting additional time for Bello to respond to the allegations. His co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, were granted administrative bail while the court considered the EFCC’s request for an extension of time.
The case is expected to resume on Wednesday, November 27, as the legal process continues to unfold.
