Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State expressed his gratitude towards journalists in the state for their significant contribution to fostering a strong relationship with his administration since its inception.
In a solidarity message commemorating World Press Freedom Day, Governor Eno stated the Important role of the media in promoting transparency and accountability.
Through a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno acknowledged the media’s commitment to upholding the principles of journalism by providing constructive criticism and highlighting issues pertinent to the public good. He commended journalists for their dedication to the ARISE vision, reflecting faith and belief in their reportage.
“We appreciate constructive criticism and your capacity to draw our attention to issues of public good, which is the core responsibility of your noble profession,” Governor Eno stated.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to working collaboratively with the media to galvanize the people of Akwa Ibom State towards progress and development. Emphasizing the importance of unity in cultural diversity, Governor Eno affirmed his alignment with the sub-theme of this year’s World Press Freedom Day, “Navigating Press Freedom Through Unity in Cultural Diversity.”
“We completely align with the Sub-Theme of this year’s event ‘Navigating the Press Freedom Through Unity in Cultural Diversity’,” he said. “That is why we promote the spirit of bipartisanship in our engagements.
