West Ham Stun Arsenal To End Winless Streak.
Arsenal missed a golden opportunity to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool as West Ham secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.
Jarrod Bowen proved to be the match-winner, scoring his 50th Premier League goal late in the first half. The winger initiated the move by collecting a loose ball on the edge of his own box before linking up with Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Bowen then met the full-back’s cross with a well-placed header, putting the Hammers ahead.
Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to break down a resolute West Ham defence and failed to produce their usual attacking fluidity. Leandro Trossard forced a low save from Alphonse Areola, but Arsenal’s hopes of a comeback suffered a significant setback when Myles Lewis-Skelly was sent off for a professional foul on Mohammed Kudus. Initially shown a yellow card by referee Craig Pawson, the decision was upgraded to a red after a VAR review determined he had denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Despite dominating possession in the second half, Arsenal could not find a breakthrough, allowing West Ham to claim their first win in five matches. The result leaves Arsenal trailing Liverpool by eight points, while the Hammers move level on points with Manchester United in 15th, though they remain 16th due to goal difference.
As Arsenal look to recover from this setback, all eyes now turn to Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City, which could further shape the title race.
