NFF Plans Early Camping for Flying Eagles ahead of U-20 African Nations Championship.
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has announced plans for the Flying Eagles to begin early preparations ahead of their 2024 WAFU B Championship campaign. In an exclusive interview with BSN Sports, Gusau revealed that the camp will be opened well in advance, providing the team with over two months of training to ensure they are thoroughly prepared for the regional competition.
Gusau expressed his disappointment with the recent performance of the Nigeria U-17 team at the WAFU B competition, where they failed to qualify for the final. He cited this as a key reason for the decision to give the Flying Eagles ample preparation time.
“The NFF is doing everything to ensure that Nigeria qualifies for the CAF U-20 African Nations Cup, and to achieve this, we must perform well and secure our ticket from the WAFU B championship,” Gusau stated. “To this end, the Flying Eagles will enjoy early preparation ahead of the 2024 WAFU-B U-20 men’s competition, which will start in October 2024.”
The early camping initiative is part of the NFF’s strategy to enhance the team’s performance and secure qualification for the CAF U-20 African Nations Cup. This proactive approach aims to address previous shortcomings and ensure that the Flying Eagles are in optimal form for the upcoming competition.
The Flying Eagles’ early preparation signifies the NFF’s commitment to Nigerian football’s success on the continental stage, and fans will be hopeful that the team’s extended training period will translate into strong performances and a successful campaign in the 2024 WAFU B Championship.
