President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has expressed great satisfaction with the progress and high standards witnessed during the recently concluded phase one of the 2024 Division One and Two Nigeria Volleyball League. According to BSNSports, the phase, which commenced on 21st May, concluded on 1st June in Abuja.
Speaking at the Multipurpose Hall of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Saturday night, President Nimrod stated, “I am very pleased with the level of the game and we are improving yearly.”
He further praised the League Management Committee for their exceptional efforts in organizing the league despite the challenges of sponsorship. “I am very happy with the organisers. Irrespective of the lack of sponsors, they put in their best, and so far so good, the league has been standard and the quality is very high,” Nimrod said.
Reflecting on his tenure, Nimrod shared, “When I came into the leadership of the federation, I prayed to God to grant the players the opportunities to ply their trade abroad as professional volleyballers. And I thank God because we have a lot of Nigerian professional volleyball players abroad. Now as we are growing yearly, this year we have teams from Bayelsa, Delta, and a lot of other state-owned teams here for the first time in the history of the competition.”
Nimrod also expressed appreciation for the federation members, coaches, and all participants in the competition. “I appreciate the federation members, they’re doing their best, and I am proud of the clubs, coaches, and all those who participated in the competition,” he added.
In a historic achievement, seventeen teams from across Nigeria participated in the championship for the first time. The NVBF will announce the date and venue for Phase Two of the league in due course.
