Nigeria has indicated interest to host the 2024 U-19 boys and girls African Beach Volleyball Nations Cup
Nigeria is gearing up to bid for the hosting rights of the 2024 U-19 boys and girls African Beach Volleyball Nations Cup, as announced by Engineer Musa Nimrod, the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation. Nimrod shared this development at the conclusion of the 2024 President Beach Volleyball Cup held in Kaduna state over the weekend.
During the event, Nimrod expressed confidence in Nigeria’s potential to host the U-19 African Beach Volleyball Nations Cup, citing the Federation’s pool of talented players capable of representing the country effectively in various beach volleyball tournaments.
He praised the impressive performance of young players at the President Cup, highlighting their fantastic skills.
Nimrod, also serving as the Secretary General of the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone 3, disclosed that Nigerian players would embark on a West African tour ahead of the Beach Volleyball Olympic Qualifiers scheduled for June.
He emphasized Africa’s allocation of only one ticket to Paris in beach volleyball, underscoring the importance of rigorous preparation for the qualifiers.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s past achievements, particularly winning a bronze medal at the African Games in Ghana and consistently reaching the qualifying stages of the Olympic Games, Nimrod expressed optimism about Nigeria’s chances to secure the sole ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, especially given the impressive performance of the women’s beach volleyball team.
