Vice President Kashim Shettima has reiterated the government’s dedication to ongoing tax reforms, ensuring they serve the collective interest of Nigerians, as affirmed during the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee’s close-out retreat.
Speaking at the conclusion of the retreat held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, Vice President Shettima, represented by Dr Aliyu Moddibo Umar, the Special Adviser to the President on General Duties, emphasised the administration’s resolve to enhance the tax system for the nation’s overall advancement.
Dispelling speculations, Shettima affirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to crafting an administrative framework that guarantees equitable benefits from a robust tax regime for all citizens.
He clarified that the administration aims at revitalising revenue generation while fostering an investment-friendly business environment, aligning with Nigeria’s economic agenda.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, the Vice President expressed confidence in their capacity to execute the mandate effectively. He highlighted the transition from the phase of proposal to implementation, underscoring the significance of the task at hand.
Shettima reassured stakeholders that both federal and state governments are prepared to support the implementation of reform proposals, ensuring they align with national economic objectives. He pledged to provide the necessary institutional framework for adopting the committee’s consensus, thereby facilitating the realisation of their objectives.
