Vice-President Kashim Shettima, is scheduled to depart Abuja on Sunday to represent President Bola Tinubu at two significant international Summits in Rome, Italy, and St. Petersburg, Russia.
In Rome, Vice President Shettima will participate in the first Stocktaking Moment (STM), Summit with other global leaders. The summit is themed “Transforming Food Systems for People, Planet, and Prosperity” and will take place from Monday, 24th to Wednesday, 26th July, 2023.
Shetimma will chair a high-level session themed “Innovative Financing for Food System Transformation: the Case of Nigeria” and the side event on ”Scaling up Multi Stakeholders Collaboration and Investment in the Implementation of Food Systems Transformation Pathways in Nigeria,”
The event aims to address crucial issues related to food systems and their impact on people’s well-being, environmental sustainability, and economic prosperity.
It provides an opportunity for leaders from various countries to collaborate and strategize on transforming food systems to meet the needs of the growing global population while ensuring the conservation of the planet’s resources.
The event is being organized in collaboration with the Rome-based UN Agencies, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and World Food Programme (WFP), as well as the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and wider UN system.
Following the Rome Summit, Vice-President Kashim Shettima will continue his diplomatic engagements by traveling to St. Petersburg, Russia, where he will represent President Tinubu at the Russia-Africa Summit. The summit is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, 26th to Saturday, 29th July.
At the Russia-Africa Summit, Vice President Shettima will join leaders from Russia and African nations to discuss and strengthen bilateral relations between Russia and the African continent. The summit aims to foster cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, and technology, to promote mutual development and prosperity.
While in Russia, the Vice President will join other political and business leaders at the 2nd Russia–Africa Summit and Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum focused on strategizing to enhance relations between Russia and the African continent, among other benefits.
