The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate in Lagos is set to transition to a new visa services provider effective August 26, 2024.
In an announcement made on Wednesday, the embassy advised visa applicants to take specific actions based on their appointment dates to avoid disruptions.
Applicants with interviews scheduled on or before August 16, 2024, can continue using their existing account on ustraveldocs.com. However, access to this portal will be suspended after August 16. The embassy urged those with interviews between August 16 and August 26 to print their appointment confirmation letters before the deadline, as they will lose access to their accounts and customer service options after August 16.
For interviews scheduled from August 26 onwards, no immediate action is required, but applicants will need to create a new account with the upcoming visa services provider. The embassy will provide a link to the new site and additional details starting August 26.
Applicants who have already paid the visa application fee but have not yet scheduled an interview are encouraged to do so promptly. Those who have not paid the fee and plan to travel in August should complete the payment and schedule their appointments before the transition.
Conversely, if planning to travel after August 26, applicants might consider waiting until after the transition to begin the visa process.
