The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has moved swiftly to dispel rumors surrounding a purported increase in the minimum wage.
In a press statement issued today by the Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotosho, it was clarified that there has been no adjustment to the minimum wage as previously speculated.
Contrary to recent media reports, which suggested an increase in the minimum wage from #35,000 to #70,000, the Lagos State Government has firmly denied such claims.
These rumours seemingly stemmed from the unveiling of Eko Cares, a programme designed to provide various interventions aimed at safeguarding the vulnerable against the prevailing economic challenges.
The clarification comes in the wake of an event held at the Governor’s Office in Ikeja on Wednesday, where Eko Cares was introduced to address the needs of the underprivileged amid the ongoing economic hardship.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration remains committed to transparency and ensuring accurate information reaches the public amidst evolving circumstances.
