U.S. Embassy Introduces New Visa Interview Requirements For Nigerian Applicants.
The United States Embassy has announced updated visa interview requirements for Nigerian applicants, with the new measures set to take effect from Monday, 22 April 2025.
In a statement released by the Embassy, all applicants attending visa interviews at the U.S. Consular Sections in Abuja and Lagos must now present a DS-160 confirmation page featuring a barcode that begins with “AA” followed by two zeroes (00). This specific barcode format must precisely match the one used to schedule the applicant’s visa appointment online.
The Embassy warned that any discrepancies in the barcode information would result in immediate disqualification from the scheduled interview and denial of entry into the Consular Section.
“This update is part of our commitment to ensuring a more efficient and secure visa process for all applicants,” the statement read.
The new requirement aims to streamline the verification process and prevent errors or fraud in the visa application system. Applicants are strongly advised to carefully review their DS-160 confirmation and ensure that the barcode aligns with the appointment booking details.
Nigerians intending to attend visa interviews are urged to take note of this important development to avoid unnecessary complications or delays.
