Flamingos Celebrate Second Victory As Harmony Chidi Scores First Goal.
Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, celebrated a crucial victory in their second group match of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after Harmony Chidi opened her goal account for the national side. The match, held in New Zealand on Saturday evening, saw the Flamingos defeat Ecuador, with Harmony playing a key role in the win.
After a goalless performance in their opening game against the Dominican Republic, the young striker was delighted to finally find the back of the net. Reflecting on her goal, Harmony expressed her joy, stating, “I’m very happy. I don’t know how to express this. It’s a joy for me right now because in the last game, when the goal didn’t come, my coach calmed me down. He believes in me so much that I can do it, even when it’s not coming, so I appreciate him for that and bless God for it.”
The Flamingos are now gearing up for their final group match against host nation New Zealand, where Harmony will be hoping to add more goals to her tally and help secure Nigeria’s progression in the tournament.
With the support of their coach and the growing confidence of their players, the Flamingos are determined to continue their impressive form as they aim for success on the global stage.
