Calvin Bassey and Frank Onyeka, members of the Super Eagles squad, have left the team’s camp in preparation for Tuesday’s international friendly against Mali.
Bassey, who missed the 2-1 victory against Ghana on Friday, and Onyeka, who played in the game, have both flown back to their base in the UK to continue their recovery. This decision comes as the season enters its crucial stages.
While Bassey’s absence was noted in the previous match, the remaining 22 players in the Eagles squad have continued training and are available for selection for the upcoming friendly against Mali.
The match is scheduled to take place at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on Tuesday, and interim head coach Finidi George is expected to make adjustments to his starting lineup in light of Bassey and Onyeka’s departure.
