Transfer Rumours Heat Up Ahead Of January Window.
The January transfer window is set to be an eventful one as top clubs across Europe make strategic moves to strengthen their squads.
Manchester United are reportedly open to allowing Marcus Rashford to leave on loan in January. The 27-year-old England forward has attracted interest from three Saudi Arabian clubs: Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, and Al Qadsiah. Meanwhile, United are also keeping tabs on River Plate’s 17-year-old Argentine midfielder Franco Mastantuono, who has a £38m release clause, and have secured Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon, 17, from Cerro Porteño, with the move set to materialise when he turns 18 in July.
Chelsea are actively eyeing Borussia Dortmund’s Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, 27, as they look to bolster their defensive ranks. Additionally, manager Enzo Maresca wants to retain Spanish striker Marc Guiu but is open to a loan move if the 18-year-old prefers it. Speculation surrounds English midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, 26, potentially leaving Chelsea, with a return to Leicester City being considered. Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei, 21, is also expected to depart, with Serie A as his likely destination.
Manchester City have placed Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães, 27, and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, 25, at the top of their January transfer wishlist. However, Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, 26, who has been linked with City, is close to finalising a new deal with AC Milan.
Newcastle United could face a challenge as Juventus are reportedly willing to sell Turkish attacking midfielder Kenan Yildiz, 19, to fund a move for Sandro Tonali, 24.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid are considering Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, 33, as a possible replacement for defenders David Alaba and Eder Militao. Bayern Munich’s Canadian left-back Alphonso Davies, 24, has sparked interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid but is said to be open to a move to Liverpool.
In Italy, Fiorentina are targeting Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, 27, as a key January signing. Meanwhile, Palmeiras have submitted a proposal to Fulham for Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira, 28.
Finally, Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in Bournemouth’s Ukrainian defender Illia Zabarnyi, 22, as they seek to reinforce their backline.
With clubs strategising for the second half of the season, fans can expect a flurry of high-profile moves in the coming weeks.
