Chippa United’s High Valuation of Stanley Nwabali Hindering Kaizer Chiefs from pursuing transfer.
Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has hit a roadblock due to the hefty price tag placed on him by his club Chippa United. As earlier reported by BSNSports.
Nwabali gained prominence for his stellar performances during Nigeria’s campaign in the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. His standout displays caught the attention of clubs worldwide, prompting Chippa United to set a substantial valuation on him.
The club has set a staggering price of R30 million (approximately $1.5 million) for Nwabali, deterring potential suitors like Kaizer Chiefs.
Kaizer Chiefs, in need of a goalkeeper, identified Nwabali as an ideal candidate. However, the club expressed reluctance due to the significant valuation placed on the Nigerian international.
“It is no secret that Chiefs have been exploring goalkeeper options for the upcoming season, with Stanley Nwabali being one of the players under consideration. They had hoped to secure his services, similar to how they acquired Daniel Akpeyi a few seasons ago,” stated the club on Tuesday.
The club acknowledged Nwabali’s impressive performance at Afcon, which elevated his status as Chippa United’s prized asset. The substantial asking price of R30 million presents a financial challenge for many clubs, potentially limiting Nwabali’s transfer options.
Despite Kaizer Chiefs’ interest in Nwabali, it remains uncertain if they can meet Chippa United’s valuation and secure the goalkeeper’s signature for the upcoming season.
