Tragic Death Of Commercial Motorcyclist In Zuba, FCT.
A 23‐year‐old commercial motorcycle rider, Mubarak Abdullahi, has been brutally murdered by a gang of hoodlums in the Zuba area of the Federal Capital Territory. The fatal attack occurred around 5am on Nitel-Pole Road, which links Zuba to Madalla town.
Abdullahi, a native of Madalla in the Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, was discovered by a neighbour who promptly alerted his younger brother, Bello Abdullahi. “I was informed by a neighbour that my brother was seen lying around Nitel-Pole Road, so I rushed to the scene at about 7am,” Bello explained.
Despite being rushed to a local clinic in Madalla and receiving immediate medical attention, Mubarak succumbed to his injuries later at the clinic. Local resident Bala, speaking to Daily Trust, highlighted the notorious reputation of Nitel Road for criminal activities, particularly between 8pm and 6am. He noted that both motorcyclists and pedestrians are often targeted during these hours.
Surprisingly, police sources revealed that no formal complaint about the incident has been lodged at the station. This revelation has stirred concerns over the level of engagement between the community and law enforcement in addressing such violent crimes.
No official statement has yet been issued by the FCT Police Command. However, there is a strong call from the local community for enhanced security measures to protect travellers on this hazardous route at night.
The tragic murder of Mubarak Abdullahi not only leaves his family and community in mourning but also underscores the precarious safety situation faced by commercial motorcyclists in the region. Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation into the case, with hopes of delivering justice for Mubarak and implementing strategies to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
