Tourist Submarine Sinks In Red Sea, Leaving Six Feared Dead.
At least six people are feared dead after a tourist submarine sank in the Red Sea near the Egyptian city of Hurghada early on Thursday. Several others sustained injuries, while 29 passengers were successfully rescued.
The vessel, named Sindbad, was carrying around 40 people when the incident occurred close to the harbour. The Sindbad has been in operation for several years, offering tourists an opportunity to explore the underwater beauty of the Red Sea.
According to the company’s website, the submarine is one of only 14 real recreational submarines in the world. It is designed to carry 44 passengers and two pilots, allowing tourists to travel 25 metres (82 feet) below the surface to observe marine life and coral reefs through large viewing windows.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the sinking, as efforts continue to assess the full extent of the incident.
