The Federal Government has announced a crucial 24-hour closure for Iyana Oworonshoki-Lagos Island-bound traffic.
This measure, effective from midnight on Sunday, February 18th, until midnight on Monday, February 19th, aims to facilitate repairs on a critical section of the bridge, as stated by Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works for Lagos State.
Mrs. Kesha reassured motorists that those traveling out of the Island and heading towards Oworonshoki would retain full access to the bridge throughout the 24-hour closure period.
In a statement issued on Saturday night, Mrs. Kesha urged motorists to utilize alternative routes and comply with traffic regulations. She stated, “The temporary 24-hour closure of the Iyana Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele bound traffic is to enable the ministry to carry out effective repairs on an important section of the bridge.”
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative routes provided by the authorities. These include options such as Ojota-Ikorodu Road-Funsho Williams Avenue-Eko Bridge-Apogbon-CMS, Ojota-Ikorodu Road-Jibowu-Yaba-Oyingbo-Iddo-Carter bridge-CMS, and Gbagada-Anthony-Ikorodu Road-Funsho Williams-Eko bridge-Apogbon-CMS.
The Federal Ministry of Works stressed on the importance of cooperation from the public during this period of repair works. Mrs. Kesha reiterated, “We urge motorists to use alternative routes, obey traffic regulatory officers, and be patient with the government as it continues repairs on this important infrastructure.”
