Tems Joins San Diego FC Ownership Group As Club Partner.
Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has become a part-owner of Major League Soccer’s San Diego Football Club (SDFC) through her company, The Leading Vibe. This move marks her as the first African female to hold ownership stakes in an MLS club.

Tems, a two-time GRAMMY® Award winner and Oscar nominee, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership:
“I am thrilled to join San Diego FC’s ownership group and to be part of a club that celebrates creativity, culture, and the power of community. Football has a unique way of bringing people together, and I am excited to help build something special in San Diego, a city that thrives on diversity and innovation.”
SDFC Chairman, Sir Mohamed Mansour, welcomed Tems to the ownership group, stating:
“We are delighted that Tems has joined San Diego FC as a Club Partner. Tems is a globally significant artist who will help us to reach new audiences and spread the word about our unique project, which of course has its foundations in sub-Saharan Africa through the unique Right to Dream organization.”
Tems joins a distinguished group of Club Partners committed to excellence and community engagement, including actress Issa Rae, World Cup-winning footballer Juan Mata, retired U.S. Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, and San Diego Padres’ MLB All-Star Manny Machado.
This partnership aligns with SDFC’s vision to unite communities through football and reflects the core values of the Right to Dream Academy, emphasizing youth development and international talent.
San Diego FC is set to make its MLS debut on 23 February 2025 against LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park, with their first home game scheduled for 1 March 2025 at Snapdragon Stadium against St. Louis CITY SC.
