Teacher Remanded In Kirikiri Prison For Assaulting 3 Year Old Boy In Lagos.

A teacher from Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu Lagos was witnessed mistreating and physically abusing a 3-year-old boy, Abayomi Micheal.

The teacher named Stella Nwadigo has now been remanded in custody following a disturbing incident captured on video. Stella Nwadigbo, who was seen assaulting a three-year-old boy in a now-viral video, was arraigned before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The incident came to light when the video, which showed the teacher abusing the young pupil, circulated widely on social media platforms, prompting swift action from the Lagos State Police Command. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed in a statement that, “Following receipt of the video, the Family Support Unit (FSU) of Ikorodu Police Division promptly arrested the suspect on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. She was then transferred to the Gender Unit of the Command Headquarters on the same day for further investigation.”

The young victim was immediately taken for medical evaluation and care to ensure his well-being following the assault.

During the court session, Nwadigbo was charged with indecent treatment and assault of a minor. The magistrate, considering the severity of the allegations, decided to remand her at Kirikiri Correctional Facility until the next court session on February 18, 2025.

This case has sparked a broader conversation about child safety in educational environments, highlighting the need for stringent background checks, continuous monitoring, and the implementation of child protection policies in schools across Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights of children, ensuring that such acts of violence against minors are met with the full force of the law.

The community and parents alike are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to authorities to prevent such incidents in the future. The next hearing is eagerly awaited as it will determine further actions in this distressing case.
