Tanzania Unveils East Africa’s Longest Bridge: Magufuli Bridge On Lake Victoria.
Tanzania has achieved a significant milestone with the completion of the Magufuli Bridge, East Africa’s longest bridge, spanning 3.2 kilometres across Lake Victoria. Constructed at a cost of $300 million, the bridge is set to transform travel and trade in the region.
Named after the late President John Magufuli, the bridge has drastically reduced travel time across the lake, cutting it down from two hours by ferry to just four minutes by road. This remarkable feat of engineering is expected to boost trade between Tanzania and its neighbouring countries, including Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi.
The Magufuli Bridge is seen as a vital link in enhancing economic cooperation and facilitating smoother transportation of goods across the region. By providing a more efficient route, it is anticipated that the bridge will strengthen Tanzania’s position as a key player in regional trade.
This ambitious project is not only a symbol of Tanzania’s infrastructural growth but also a testament to the country’s commitment to fostering regional integration.
The opening of the Magufuli Bridge marks a new chapter for East Africa, one that promises greater connectivity, economic development, and prosperity for all.
