Super Falcons to Face Canada in Closed-Door Friendly Ahead of Paris 2024.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced on Monday that the pre-Olympics friendly between the Super Falcons and Canada will be played behind closed doors.
The match, scheduled for 17 July, will serve as the Super Falcons’ final test before they depart for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The NFF shared the news via their official X platform, stating: “Our Super Falcons will be taking on reigning Olympic champions Canada in a closed-door friendly on 17 July as a final test before flying to France for the Olympics!”
This match will be the only warm-up fixture for the Super Falcons ahead of the Olympics. The two teams last faced each other in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where they battled to a 0-0 draw.
Canada comes into this friendly with confidence, having recently secured a 2-1 victory over Australia in a friendly match last weekend. As the reigning Olympic champions, Canada will provide a formidable challenge for the Nigerian side as they finalise their preparations for the upcoming games.
The closed-door nature of the match means that it will be played without spectators, ensuring both teams can focus fully on their strategies and preparations.
The Super Falcons are aiming to make a significant impact at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and this match against Canada will be crucial in fine-tuning their performance ahead of the tournament.
