Super Falcons Return to Women’s Olympic Football After 16-Year Absence.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set to make their much-anticipated return to the Women’s Olympic Football Competition for the first time in 16 years. The team, which achieved quarter-final status at the 2004 Athens Olympics, will arrive in Bordeaux, France, on Thursday night, marking the beginning of their campaign.
The nine-time African champions will depart from Spain aboard an Air France flight, arriving in Bordeaux shortly before 11 PM. The delegation consists of 18 players, four substitute players, and various officials, and they are scheduled to check into the Mercure Hotel before midnight.
The Super Falcons are drawn into a challenging group that includes Brazil, Spain, and Japan. This competition marks their first appearance at the Olympics since 2008, when they competed in Beijing.
