Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a narrow but hard-fought 1-0 victory against Libya in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 Qualifying encounter at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s strike proved decisive, giving Nigeria their third consecutive clean sheet and back-to-back home victories under coach Augustine Eguavoen.
The win marks an impressive unbeaten run for the Super Eagles, who have managed two wins and one draw from their three Group D matches. With this result, Nigeria now tops Group D with 7 points, followed closely by Benin, who secured a 3-0 win over Rwanda in the other group game. The current standings are:
