Super Eagles Held By Zimbabwe In World Cup Qualifier.
Nigeria’s hopes of securing a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup suffered a setback after a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in Uyo.
The Super Eagles, needing a win to boost their qualification chances, struggled to break down their opponents in a tense encounter. After a goalless first half, Victor Osimhen put Nigeria ahead in the 74th minute, sending the home crowd into celebration.
However, Osimhen was forced off shortly after scoring, with Victor Boniface coming on as his replacement. Zimbabwe capitalised on his absence, scoring a dramatic equaliser in the 90th minute to stun the hosts.
Despite late pressure from Nigeria, they were unable to find a winning goal, leaving their qualification hopes in a precarious position. The result adds further pressure on the Super Eagles as they seek to secure a spot in the global tournament.
